Menelaus carried the red and white colours of Brian Padgett to victory in the 'Best Prices Guaranteed Daily At Vickers.Bet Handicap' at Thirsk this afternoon. He had run a career best at Thirsk last time out when he just failed to get up after doing his best work at the finish and today he went one better at the same venue. Menelaus had not won in nine starts but took his opportunity well, a just reward for some near misses in recent runs. Shane Gray was the jockey in charge taking over from Joanna Mason who was injured in a training accident this morning. |
