On Monday 14th October Magic City left the yard for the final time and headed for pastures new in the East Riding of Yorkshire.

Magic City joined us in 2016 from Richard Hannon. A winner of ten races from 80 career starts and £187,000 in prizemoney, he became a regular for the yard in races between seven and nine furlongs in the north. He ran his final race at Carlisle in August and yesterday he was collected by his new owner Danielle Bassett. He will spend the rest of his life with Danielle at Etton near Beverley. His new home is just a couple of miles from Beverley racecourse, where he has twice run in 2019.

Owners Andy Turton, Linda Folwell and John Blackburn, together with all the staff here at Mick Easterby Racing, wish him well and thank him for the great days out that he has given them over the years.

The win that he will be best remembered for was his final victory in the 'John Wright Electrical Handicap (for Gentleman Amateur Riders)' at York, giving Alex Fielding his first career winner in the saddle.

Magic City was also the horse that gave apprentice jockey Harrison Shaw a memorable winner on his 21st brithday when he won at Ripon on 22nd June 2017!

It has been a year which has seen a number of the older horses retire with the curtain coming down on the careers of prolific winners Perfect Pasture, Kalk Bay and Space War in 2019.
