The New Year kicks off today with a trip to Gosforth Park where we run four-year-old Laurens Dream.

A dual course winner as a juvenile, the daughter of Advertise tackles the six furlong Midnite: Built For 2025 Not 2005 Handicap and will be ridden by Billy Garritty. The race has split and our horse runs in the second division which closes the afternoon card at 5.35.

Laurens Dream's last win came over course and distance back in November 2024 and she's now dropped to a rating of 52, which is 13 pounds below her highest winning mark.

The obvious danger in the race is six-time course winner Fircombe Hall. He strongly hinted at a return to form last time when beaten a neck by Yorkshire Glory having met trouble in running and he'd have surely have won with a clear passage.

The last time we sent out a New Year's Day winner was in 2017 when Holiday Magic won at Southwell and we'll do our best to start 2026 in style.
