Mellow Teak was bought as a yearling and set a sales record of 16,500gns. He made his debut at York in 1970. Mellow Teak won the 'Holyrood Amateur Riders' Stakes' at Newcastle in 1972, which proved to be his final race. He ran 14 times and won once.
