Beautifully bred, Enlighten is by multiple Group 1 winner Kayf Tara. Enlighten had a successful racing career, recording wins at Kelso and Sedgefield. He retired from racing in 2022 to a fabulous home in the north-east with his new owner Anne.

Owner Anne tells his story.

I started hacking him over the estate. It's 2500 acres. I laid him off during his first winter and removed his shoes. He started to relax, enjoy his turnout, and those humongous muscles softened off.

I've started his transformation to dressage diva, and I'm training with Inter 1 rider Emily Clark-Attwood.

He's enjoying the change and loves the work. Quick on the uptake and a pleasure to ride and own. He's throwing us curve balls, with those feet and a few colic visits from the vet but he's worth every out-of-hours call.

He enjoyed his first summer doing Riding Club pole work and flat training. In Durham, the flies are savage and he enjoys being under the fly sheet and mask. I've even had to buy a ride-on fly sheet to keep the clegs off him. I've never been taken in reverse sooo quickly !!! Bloody flies.

We'll start competing when he's ready. I'm planning to apply to BD to ride para-dressage, so that's another route we have to experience. He really is a sweet, gentle soul.
