Shimmering Sands ended a long losing streak last time out and he'll aim to back up his victory in the Racing TV Amateur Jockeys' Handicap where Henry Callan rides. Callan has ridden three winners from his last four rides and is the form jockey in the race. Shimmering Sands will carry the colours of Mark Hickling for the first time. The quick ground will suit Shimmering Sands as he bids to make it two wins in a row.

Knicks has run some good races but his last win came at Chester in May 2024 and he tackles the Pontefract Ladies Day Wednesday 5th August Handicap. Beaten just under two lengths last time at Thirsk where he was sent off the 11/4 favourite he's now eleven pounds below his last winning mark and Joanna Mason will bid to get him back to winning ways.
We field both the top and bottom weighted horses in the Wilfred Underwood Memorial Handicap. At the top of the handicap Big Apple Jack will be ridden by Joanna Mason, whilst at the foot of the weights is Ganthorpe, who will carry a featherweight with Lewis Chalkley taking off a further seven pounds. Both horses run in the colours of Mark Hickling.
