Earlier this year we rehomed a fabulous two-year-old gelding who didn't have the speed to be a racehorse.
Now enjoying life on the Pennines near Huddersfield, 'Artemis' has become a firm family favourite and has settled in beautifully.
Artemis has a great way of repelling the bugs in the summer. He has figured that if he looks like a big scary bug in his fly mask then they'll keep well clear!
"Artemis was not overly thrilled with his new fly mask that makes him look like a bug," said his owner Jenna.
"We go for regular wonders around the field, no lead rope or head collar he just follows like a Labrador. For a 2 year old to just stand there in the field and have rugs taken on and off a zip up fly masks put on he's a dream! Probably one of the easiest horses I’ve ever had and he's described as a 'giant teddy bear'."
"He does make me laugh when he doesn't understand something he has a little paddy with his front legs. We've just started doing a bit of ground work with him and when he doesn't understand he stomps the ground like a child. He definitely knows who we are as owners. My other half who isn't horsey just walks straight up to him never has any issues. He sits with him in the field when he lays down fast asleep. He’s a dream to have."

"My mum came up the other day who has obviously been round the horses for a long time but has been away for them for a few years, we took him a light weight rug up and just chucked it straight on no problems and we both were a bit amazed at him as he hasn’t really had a rug on for a good month or so so we expected a few nerves from him but again no he just stood there good as gold. Mum even said 'gosh he's too easy'." |
