Friday racing: Doncaster and Southwell

We head to Doncaster on Friday for an ice cream themed card, and we hope there are some ice cream prizes if we can scoop a winner.

Three-year-old Big Love will have his second racecourse outing on Friday when he lines up for the Cadburys Ice Cream EBF Junior National Hunt Hurdle at Doncaster. The homebred son of broodmare Apalis, who we sadly lost to cancer earlier this month, will aim to build on his promising debut where he finished fourth of eight at Market Rasen.

The final race on the card is the Kellys Dairy Soft Ice Cream Handicap Hurdle where we run The Resdev Tyke. Third on his first two career starts he was disappointing last time when well beaten at Perth. The dangers look to be Orange Diamond who has won three of his last four, and Zamond who won at Segdefield on his penultimate start and then went down when beaten under three lengths in a close finish at the same track last month.

On the flat we run Gunalt Wavelength at Southwell in the Bet £10 Get £40 With BetMGM Nursery Handicap where she steps up to seven furlongs. She's finished runner up in three of her eight starts, including her last two runs on turf (soft) at Catterick and Pontefract. She's one run on the all weather under her belt, finishing second at Wolverhampton, so we know she'll handle the surface. The early favourite is Raging Raj but he doesn't look to be well in, with a six pound penalty for his narrow win at Kempton last week. Stay Sharp was raised seven pounds for her Yarmouth win, so the value might be Station Bar who can race off the same mark as when going down by a head at Kempton last week.
